Hi! I’m Jenn and I do people training for dogs!
I grew up with many animals- dogs, cats, rabbits, and I even had a domesticated pet rooster named Mikey! Learning how to communicate with animals, especially dogs, fascinated me, and it made me want to understand them even more. In 2008 I decided to officially study and obtain my certification to teach basic obedience through the Animal Behavior College. My training partner at the time was a little black and tan street puppy who I found living in a wooded lot, covered in ticks and fleas. Bella, who passed away in 2020, became my 14-year partner in crime and was the impetus for the name Bellalu. Her calico cat sister Lucy is the second half of the name, Lu.
There are many methods of training dogs. I focus on positive reinforcement, which rewards the good behavior while redirecting undesirable behaviors. We work to establish a bond between you and your dog, which creates an environment where the dog wants to please you, and understands what you are asking them to do, as you establish cues using clear and effective communication.
Do you dream of…
Calm walks without your dog pulling you like a sled?
Someone walking by your home without the dog barking as if a murderer is at your door?
- Being able to enjoy having guests over without your dog jumping on and licking them?
- Eating dinner peacefully without a dog drooling in your face?
- Leaving the house for a few hours (maybe even 5 minutes!) without coming home to destruction?
Utilizing a positive reward system, your dog will learn what you are asking them to do, and more importantly, they will want to do it!
